直径为15—50厘米的LED灯笼外壳大多为注塑工艺而成，此工艺的特点是外壳分红两半组装而成，最终设备上下盖以完结固定。

直径为60—80厘米的LED灯笼外壳一般选用吹塑工艺制造，此工艺的特点是出产周期短，外壳一次成型，外表圆润，光泽度以及透光度都非常好。

直径为90厘米及以上的LED灯笼外壳一般选用注塑工艺，此工艺的特点是可制造大直径的外壳，但同时也使得灯笼质量也大。
